HOSTING AN IN-PERSON NAMSS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Hosting a NAMSS course at your state or chapter meeting, or facility is an easy, cost effective ways to bring NAMSS’ education to your members and/or employees. There are several courses available for hosting including Ready to Lead, Credentialing 101, and the Certification Preparation Courses (CPCS® and CPMSM®).

In-person CPCS® Certification Preparation Course (Two Day Course)

Privately Hosted at Your Facility/Hosted by Your State or Chapter

Bring the NAMSS CPCS® Certification Preparation course to your state, chapter or facility. Your organization is responsible for organizing all course logistics and registration. and pays the licensing, honorarium, and materials fees to NAMSS. Your organization is also responsible for covering instructor travel costs.

What is the Credentialing Specialist (CPCS®) Certification Preparation Course?

The NAMSS Credentialing Specialist Certification Preparation course is a two-day long interactive program designed to help you assess your knowledge of the CPCS® exam content and identify areas in which additional study is necessary before you take the exam. This comprehensive workshop provides a high-level overview of the exam topics including credentialing and privileging; primary source verification; compliance with standards; and medical staff services operations reviewed from the perspective of a variety of health care settings including hospitals, managed care organizations, ambulatory care settings and CVOs. 

Participants will work through interactive coursework facilitated by experienced NAMSS instructors. A key focus of the course is your development of a personalized study plan for post-workshop study and preparation to take the examination. The course includes comprehensive supplementary resources to help you prepare for the exam.

What will be required of my organization?

  • Make arrangements for meeting room – in rounds for the two days during the course. 
  • Manage facility logistics, registration, and audiovisual equipment needed for course and cover associated costs.
  • Provide one laptop (with Microsoft Office Suite – PowerPoint; cannot be a MAC), LCD projector, screen and two flip charts
  • Register participants for the course.
  • Provide hotel reservation and transportation information to NAMSS Headquarters and all registrants.
  • Provide access to hotel rooms at the special conference rate for all attendees.
  • Provide registration tables and signage on the dates of the course.
  • Designate an On-Site Coordinator who will:
    • Serve as the on-site liaison to NAMSS instructors and registered attendees;
    • Register and check in attendees.
    • Provide volunteers to serve as room monitors to assist the instructors during the course.
  • Cover travel (coach airfare or mileage reimbursement at government rate), per diem ($60 per day/per instructor), and up to 3 nights hotel (per instructor) for two instructors per course.
  • Submit a check to NAMSS based on course and materials costs outlined below. These fees are per course:
    • Honorarium
      • $3,500 ($1,750 per NAMSS instructor)
    • $1,500 licensing fee 
    • Participant Workbook printing and shipping fees (to be determined)

  • Promote the course on NAMSS website and all educational materials.

What is the Medical Services Managgement (CPMSM®) Certification Preparation Course?

The NAMSS Medical Services Management (CPMSM®) Certification Preparation Workshop is a two-day long interactive program designed to help you assess your knowledge of the CPMSM exam content areas and identify areas in which additional study may be necessary before you take the exam. What is Credentialing 101?

This 2-day long interactive course will present the foundational elements of credentialing in an acute care (hospital) setting with a primary focus on the CMS regulatory standards and The Joint Commission accreditation standards, as well as how and when to apply them. This course is a must-attend for anyone new to the field and is an excellent refresher for current MSPs who want to enhance their knowledge of credentialing.

How do I apply?

  • Make arrangements for one meeting room set in rounds for the two day course. (Size based on number of attendees – up to 50)
  • Manage facility logistics, registration, and audiovisual equipment needed for course and cover associated costs. Provide one laptop, LCD projector, screen and two flip charts for the meeting room.
  • Register participants for the course.
  • Provide hotel reservation and transportation information to NAMSS Headquarters and all registrants. 
  • Provide access to hotel rooms at the special conference rate for all attendees.
  • Provide registration tables and signage on the dates of the course.
  • Designate an On-site Coordinator who will: 
    • Serve as the on-site liaison to NAMSS instructors and registered attendees.
    • Register and check in attendees.

What is Credentialing 201?

This newly-redesigned and converted 2 day, interactive course builds on the foundation of Credentialing 100/101 and goes beyond the credentialing procedures to explore common challenges faced by credentialing managers. Topics include: developing successful onboarding programs for new practitioners; implementing efficient procedures for credentialing data governance;  improving collaboration with other departments; determining best ways to assess and respond to low/no volume practitioners; justifying and developing successful proposals for additional FTEs; developing effective procedures to integrate new services, service lines, and additional privileges; and responding appropriately to impaired and/or disruptive practitioners.

Credentialing 201 provides you the opportunity to identify, discuss, and problem-solve the biggest challenges you face today.
