Dr. Marty Makary is the New York Times bestselling author of Unaccountable, a 2012 Library Journal Book of the Year—a book about how transparency is revolutionizing medicine and empowering patients. He is a leading healthcare expert and a gastrointestinal surgeon, researcher, and associate professor of health policy & management at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Makary is also a medical commentator for CNN and FOX News and speaks on a wide variety of current health topics. A dynamic public speaker, he received the best teacher award for Georgetown University Medical School. His current efforts focus on common-sense reforms for healthcare and transparency of medical information. As a surgeon, he practices laparoscopic surgical oncology and gastrointestinal surgery. He is the director of the Johns Hopkins Pancreas Islet Transplantation Center and lives in the Washington D.C. area.

With a portable keyboard slung over his shoulders, David Glickman combines humor and music in an exciting program unlike anything you have ever seen. Glickman has been presenting programs to healthcare professionals since 1981 and began his career as director of public relations for the American Heart Association of Greater Miami. In that position, he made media appearances and spoke to audiences on the risks of heart disease and strokes. Since leaving, Glickman has presented over 2,000 programs about finding humor in the hectic healthcare environment. He has also appeared on Evening at the Improv and opened for The Beach Boys, Engelbert Humperdinck, Ellen DeGeneres, Ray Romano, and many others. In 1994, he was voted “Funniest Person in America” in the Entenmann’s National Comedy Contest.
