As the National healthcare community has embarked on a nuanced discussion about aging as a risk factor for poor performance among physicians, a spectrum of approaches to screening have been put into practice, ranging from the expensive and aggressive to the cursory. Dr. Bazzo presents the results of a pilot study on an inexpensive but inclusive screening battery for physicians, the PACE Aging Physician Assessment (PAPA). Dr. Bazzo will review the initial rationale (based on his experience in high stakes physician assessment) for each of the screening tools, how the study was conducted, and what has been learned about these tools from the study.  Additionally, Dr. Bazzo will postulate the advantages and hurdles of properly implementing such a screening battery.
