2014 Open Board Positions
Directors at Large: Three positions will be elected, each with three-year terms from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016.
Director at Large Qualifications:
- State President/President-Elects must complete their term in their respective state prior to assuming the duties of Board
- Must have demonstrated experience on a NAMSS committee or State Association Board within the last five (5) years
- Must have completed the Candidate Application by May 31st
- Must be an active NAMSS member in good standing for the past five years
- Must hold a current NAMSS certification (either CPMSM or CPCS)
- Must sign and adhere to the NAMSS Volunteer Leader Agreement
- Must demonstrate a proven track record evidenced through input/recommendations from references that address the following:
- Professional character and ethics
- Responsibility through commitment to and completion of assignments
- Openness to other’s viewpoints
- Responsiveness
- Ability to lead and cultivate other’s skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Nominating Committee members may not be a candidate for any of the open positions.
- Candidates are encouraged to review the Director at Large Job Description and Nomination of Board Members Policy prior to submitting their application

Please submit the following materials as instructed below by midnight ET on May 31, 2013.
- Signed NAMSS Volunteer Leader Agreement - Please submit to sbarnes@namss.org
- Completed Online Candidate Application. You will be asked to provide the following iUpdatenformation in the application:
- Experience
- Education
- Contributions to NAMSS and/or State Association(s)
- Submission of name of current supervisor or higher
- Submission of two (2) peer references. Suggested references include current or past NAMSS committee member and/or chair, current or past State Board member or committee chair, professional colleague, counselor or consultant. Current NAMSS Board members and Nominating Committee members cannot serve as peer references.
- Candidate statement to be shared with the membership
- Biosketch
- Consent to serve on the Board if elected
- Color photo/professional headshot - Please submit electrically to sbarnes@namss.org
Applicants must provide all of the documents by the May 31st in order for the Nominating Committee to consider their application.
NAMSS may also request written references from state leadership (where state leadership experience is indicated) and/or relevant NAMSS committee chairperson (where committee experience is indicated).
Please note that due to NAMSS decision to combine the Secretary and Treasurer positions as of January 1, 2014, we will not be calling for the position of Secretary in 2014.
