Course Description The responsibilities of the medical staff services and provider credentialing professionals has changed dramatically in the past 20 years. In today's organization, the medical services professionals must operate more efficiently, yet continually respond to changing regulations from the federal government. In this environment, medical services professionals are charged with performing a wide range of responsibilities to fulfill its part of the organization's mission.
Medical services professionals must adopt a management philosophy that is consistent with the organization's philosophy and reflect the personal skills they bring to the job. Because they are also responsible for managing personnel, medical services professionals must possess knowledge of management principles and current management practices.
Course Objective Course 1 is designed to provide an overview of management principles, the proper handling of confidential information, records management, staffing and supervisory issues, communication skills, leadership and staffing committee meetings in any healthcare setting.
Learning Outcome Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: define management and its functions list the steps in the problem-solving process identify the importance of the decision-making process utilize the different approaches to file management understand the basics of organizing meetings recognize the fundamentals of parliamentary procedure
