About

Our Commitment to Diversity

NAMSS stands with, and for, our members of any age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, geographic location, nationality, professional level, race, religion, and sexual orientation. We are committed to enhancing the professional development of and recognition for all professionals in the medical staff and credentialing services field and strive to ensure that we are truly inclusive and building a strong, diverse organization for all Medical Services Professionals. In 2017, the NAMSS Board of Directors developed and adopted a Statement on Diversity and Inclusion, which reflects the association’s commitment to building an organization that appropriately reflects the diversity of the medical services profession.

We welcome your thoughts and ideas on how to continue our work on diversity and inclusion in NAMSS and encourage you to email us at info@namss.org.

NAMSS Statement on Diversity and Inclusion

NAMSS seeks and values diversity and inclusive practices within our membership, leadership, and the areas of the medical services profession represented by the membership, and it strives to build committees and the board of directors in a manner that is reflective of the diversity of our profession.

NAMSS celebrates diversity and welcomes people of any age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, geographic location, nationality, professional level, race, religion, and sexual orientation, and is committed to ensuring diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization.

To this end, NAMSS promotes involvement, innovation, and access to opportunities that maximize engagement across the healthcare settings, professional roles, and professional levels represented by the membership.

Guiding Tenets

Tenet #1 – We will maintain our commitment to the equal dignity and worth of every person in the medical services industry by creating equitable opportunities. We are committed to developing structures to examine, identify, and address any systemic biases or deficiencies in our policies, practices, and programs.

Tenet #2 – As an organization, we will ensure all members feel welcomed by establishing meaningful connections with diverse partners, enrolling and retaining diverse participants, and fostering inclusive communities.

Tenet #3 – As a NAMSS community, we will hold each other accountable to expectations of the important work of building an organization that appropriately reflects the diversity of the medical services profession. We will continue to provide visibility to our DEI activities and demographic data.

Tenet #4 – We will ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion practices are integrated into all professional development initiatives, including education resources and certification curricula.
