NAMSS has identified four career milestones to support MSPs in their progress to becoming Tomorrow’s MSP®. The Tomorrow’s MSP Career Pathway is meant to be a progression, however some MSPs at times may identify certain areas where they have more knowledge and experience while in others you are still learning the framework.
NAMSS Career Pathway
Foundation
|
This individual is still developing their skills and learning on the job as a Medical Services Professional and gatekeeper of patient safety. They likely still need supervision when completing projects and continue to learn how to complete their job function.

Specialist/Coordinator
|
This individual has an understanding of the requirements of the job and needs little, if any, supervision. They can execute the tasks assigned to them and understand how their role connects to the bigger picture.
|
Manager
|
This individual is a program and project manager, ensuring that their work and the work of others is being completed. They may be managing a staff team and taking part in operational conversations as it relates to their areas of work and their department.
|
Executive Leader
|
This individual is a leader within their organization and the medical services profession. They take part in strategic conversations with healthcare administration and are champions for their department and MSPs. The executive leader is a decision-maker and planning for the future.
