Each year, NAMSS celebrates MSP Week—a time to honor and celebrate the Medical Services Professionals (MSPs) whose work ensures safe, high-quality healthcare.
We're continuing our theme, "Proud to Be an MSP" with a special focus on mentorship and highlighting the many ways MSPs contribute to healthcare organizations through leadership, professional expertise, mentorship, and their impact on quality, safety, and organizational excellence.

Poems & Articles Submission Campaign
Call for Submissions: Growing the Future of the Profession– We are hosting the the poems/articles submission campaign again in 2026! This year, NAMSS invites members to share their experiences and insights on career pathways, professional advancement, and mentorship within the MSP profession. Selected submissions will be featured during MSP Week on the NAMSS website, email, and social media.
To honor the individuals who help shape the future of our field, submit an original article (300-500 words) or poem (12-40 lines) highlighting the journeys, relationships, and opportunities that help MSPs thrive.
Prompts for Inspiration:
- How did you begin your career as an MSP, and where has the journey taken you?
- Share a story about mentoring a colleague or helping someone advance in their MSP profession.
- How have education, certification, or NAMSS resources helped you achieve your professional goals?
- Complete the sentence: “The future of the MSP profession depends on…”

Voices of the MSP Community
The strength of the profession lies in its diversity and its shared commitment to excellence. During #MSPWeek®, we elevate the voices of MSPs and the important work you do!
As part of this initiative, we collected MSP Mantras – short, powerful statements that capture the unique characteristics of our members and the multifaceted roles MSPs play. In one sentence, MSPs shared what inspires them, why their role is important, and how they contribute to the evolving healthcare system. Share your mantra with us and you might see if featured in social media!

A Brief History of MSP Week
In 1992, President George H.W. Bush signed Congressional House Joint Resolution #399, officially proclaiming the first full week in November as National Medical Staff Services Awareness Week.
Since then, NAMSS has proudly partnered with hospitals, managed care organizations, physician offices, university health systems, and government agencies to increase awareness of the vital role MSPs play in healthcare. What began as a national recognition has grown into an annual tradition of celebrating MSPs everywhere.
