In-Person Courses and Workshops

NAMSS offers a variety of live, classroom-style courses and workshops geared toward everything from credentialing best-practices and professional development, to certification preparation. NAMSS hosts these courses on a national level twice a year; Our first offering is at the Annual Regional Education Summit held in the spring and our second offering is held in conjunction with the Annual Education Conference in the fall (September/October). Please also note that additional offerings may occur locally at the State Association level. Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) Certification Preparation Course

The NAMSS Credentialing Specialist Certification Preparation Workshop is a two-day interactive program designed to help you assess your knowledge of the CPCS exam content and identify areas in which additional study is necessary before you take the exam. This comprehensive workshop provides a high-level overview of the exam topics including credentialing and privileging; primary source verification; compliance with standards; and medical staff services operations reviewed from the perspective of a variety of health care settings including hospitals, managed care organizations, ambulatory care settings and CVOs. Participants will work through a series of interactive activities including scenario-based exercises and case studies supplemented with in-class learning facilitated by experienced NAMSS instructors. A key focus of the course is your development of a personalized study plan for post-workshop study and preparation to take the examination. The course includes pre-workshop preparation materials which you will need to complete prior to class and access to comprehensive supplementary resources to help you prepare for the exam.  


Medical Services Management (CPMSM) Certification Preparation Course

The NAMSS Medical Services Management (CPMSM) Certification Preparation Workshop is a two-day interactive program designed to help you assess your knowledge of the CPMSM exam content and identify areas in which additional study is necessary before you take the exam. This comprehensive workshop provides a high-level overview of the exam topics including accreditation and regulatory compliance; management of the credentialing processes; privileging; medical staff services administration; risk management; information management; and medical staff services operations, reviewed from the perspective of a variety of health care settings including hospitals, managed care organizations, ambulatory care settings and CVOs. Participants will work through a series of interactive activities including scenario-based exercises and case studies supplemented with in-class learning facilitated by experienced NAMSS instructors. A key focus of the course is your development of a personalized study plan for post-workshop study and preparation to take the examination. The course includes pre-workshop preparation materials which you will need to complete prior to class and access to comprehensive supplementary resources to help you prepare for the exam.  


Credentialing 101

A revamp of the former popular program by the same name, this course will present the foundational elements of  credentialing combined with information on the accreditation standards, as well as how and when to apply them. This course is a must-attend for anyone new to the field and is an excellent refresher for current MSPs who want to enhance their knowledge of credentialing.


Becoming Your Own Advocate

MSPs perform an integral role in keeping health care organizations running smoothly and ensuring the highest-quality patient care—all too often, however, MSPs do not have access to the types of development courses that will help them progress in their careers. Designed for MSPs at every stage of their career, NAMSS’ newest classroom course, Becoming Your Own Advocate, is a comprehensive interactive program designed to help you increase your professional credibility and achieve your goals within your organization. Led by a NAMSS instructor, Becoming Your Own Advocate provides MSPs with the skills they need to better advocate for themselves, their staff, and the safety of the patients they serve.

NAMSS Leadership Certificate Program – In-Person Course
The NAMSS Leadership Certificate Program In-person Course is designed for MSPs dedicated to the field to expand on their experiences and gain the skills, confidence, and industry understanding to be stronger leaders within the industry..  A continuation of the online portion of the program, the in-person course will focus on a variety of topics, including team leadership (continued from online module), negotiations (continued from online module), critical thinking, and communications skills. This course offers a total of 14 CE credits. *Participants are required to complete the online portion of this program in order to participate in the in-person course.

NAMSS Educational Conference & Exhibition
NAMSS annual education conferences offer a variety of educational topics for MSPs working in hospitals, managed care organizations, CVOs, group practices, and locum tenens. More than 14 CE credits are available in addition to great networking opportunities!

NAMSS Training of Trainers Workshop
NAMSS is pleased to offer a valuable training and facilitator skills workshop for presenters with experience at the state and national level. Join The NAMSS facilitation team in a two and a half day workshop to improve your presentation and co-facilitation skills. Training sessions will cover adult learning; experiential learning; audience analysis; facilitation skills; and co-facilitation. In addition to filling out the application, applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a Current NAMSS instructor or a NAMSS state chapter president or officer explaining their relationship or experience with the speaker and stating why they are a good candidate for the training workshop. Please note that attendance at this workshop is not an acceptance into the NAMSs student instructor program and registrants are subject to review by the NAMSS Education Committee.
