Hosting a Virtual NAMSS Education Course

Hosting a NAMSS Virtual Course for your state association or facility is an easy, cost effective ways to bring NAMSS’ education to your members and/or employees--without the  added stress of scheduling logstics or the added cost of travel. There are several courses available for hosting including the Certification Preparation Courses (CPCS® and CPMSM®), Credentialing 101 and Credentialing 201. Our newly re-designed Virtual Workshops take place over the course of two to two-and-a-half weeks and provide both live instruction from experienced NAMSS instructors via Zoom and interactive modules through our learning management system for a dynamic learning experience. 

 

Important Note: Hosting a NAMSS Virtual Course includes participant access to live Zoom sessions and online modules only. All educational materials distributed for any of these courses are for the personal educational use of the Participant only and may not be shared or distributed. Please also note that any recording of the Zoom sessions is strictly prohibited.

Hosting a Virtual CPCS® Certification Preparation Course

The Virtual NAMSS Credentialing Specialist (CPCS®) Certification Preparation Workshop is a two-week interactive program designed to help attendees assess their knowledge of the CPCS exam content and identify areas in which additional study is necessary before they take the exam. This comprehensive workshop provides a high-level overview of exam topics including credentialing and privileging; primary source verification; compliance with standards; and medical staff services operations reviewed from the perspective of a variety of health care settings including hospitals, managed care organizations, ambulatory care settings and CVOs. 

Participants will work through a series of online modules supplemented with four live Zoom sessions facilitated by experienced NAMSS instructors. A key focus of the course is your development of a personalized study plan for post-workshop study and preparation to take the examination. The course includes comprehensive supplementary resources to help you prepare for the exam. 

Bring the NAMSS Virtual CPCS Certification Preparation course to your state, chapter or facility. Your organization is responsible for organizing registration and the Zoom logistics, as well as paying the licensing and honorarium fees to NAMSS. NAMSS will coordinate access to the associated weekly course modules.

What will be required of my organization?

  • Agree to Virtual CPCS Certification Preparation Course educational model. This course meets for two hours twice per week for 2 weeks on Zoom, at the same time each week. In addition to the live Zoom sessions, there are online modules to be completed each week (60-90 minutes of work) before the next week's session that NAMSS will put into Attendees' NAMSS Online Learning Accounts
  • Access to Zoom Pro account in order to schedule and run the reoccuring live Zoom sessions.
  • Agree to not record any live Zoom session.
  • Register participants for the course.
  • Designate a Logistical Coordinator who will:
    • Manage registration logistics and provide NAMSS the list of course participants with their NAMSS ID Numbers at least one week prior to first live Zoom session.
    • Set up and provide links for live Zoom sessions to NAMSS instructors and participants.
    • Serve as the liaison to NAMSS staff, NAMSS instructors and registered participants.
    • Attend all live Zoom sessions to provide technical support for NAMSS instructors and participants
  • Submit payment based on course costs outlined below. These fees are per course:
    • Honorarium (paid directly to NAMSS instructors)
      • $3,500 ($1,750 per NAMSS instructor)
    • $1,500 licensing fee (paid to NAMSS)

What support will NAMSS provide?

  • Serve as the liaison between NAMSS instructors and orgaization liaison.
  • Provide a training Zoom session to go over all relevant Zoom functionalities with designated organization Logistical Coordinator
  • Populate weekly online modules in Participant Online Learning Plans at least one week prior to next live Zoom Session.
  • Provide access to CPCS Participant Resource website.
     

How do I apply?

  • Submit the application form below  at least three months prior to preferred course date.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the NAMSS Education Committee within two weeks of receipt of application.
  • Sessions will be scheduled according to instructor availability.

Hosting a Virtual CPMSM® Certification Preparation Course

The NAMSS Medical Services Management (CPMSM®) Certification Preparation Workshop is a two-week interactive program designed to help you assess your knowledge of the CPMSM exam content and identify areas in which additional study is necessary before you take the exam. This comprehensive workshop provides a high-level overview of the exam topics including accreditation and regulatory compliance; management of the credentialing processes; privileging; medical staff services administration; risk management; information management; and medical staff services operations, reviewed from the perspective of a variety of health care settings including hospitals, managed care organizations, ambulatory care settings and CVOs.

Hosting a Virtual Credentialing 101 Course

Virtual Credentialing 101 is a two-and-a-half-week, interactive course that will present the foundational elements of credentialing in an acute care (hospital) setting with a primary focus on the CMS regulatory standards and The Joint Commission accreditation standards, as well as how and when to apply them. This course is a must-attend for anyone new to the field and is an excellent refresher for current MSPs who want to enhance their knowledge of credentialing.  Participants will work through a series of online modules supplemented with five live sessions facilitated by experienced NAMSS speakers.

This course meets for two hours twice per week for 2.5 weeks on Zoom, at the same time each week. In addition to the live Zoom sessions, there are online modules to be completed each week (60-90 minutes of work) before the next week's session that NAMSS will put into Attendees' NAMSS Online Learning Accounts
  • Access to Zoom Pro account in order to schedule and run the reoccuring live Zoom sessions.

Hosting a Virtual Credentialing 201 Course

This two-week, interactive course builds on the foundation of Credentialing 100/101 and goes beyond the credentialing procedures to explore common challenges faced by credentialing managers. Topics include: developing successful onboarding programs for new practitioners; implementing efficient procedures for credentialing data governance;  improving collaboration with other departments; determining best ways to assess and respond to low/no volume practitioners; justifying and developing successful proposals for additional FTEs; developing effective procedures to integrate new services, service lines, and additional privileges; and responding appropriately to impaired and/or disruptive practitioners.

Credentialing 201 provides you the opportunity to identify, discuss, and problem solve the biggest challenges you face today.
