CPCS Preparation Course

Amy M Niehaus, CPMSM, CPCS, M.B.A.

Amy is a healthcare consultant with more than 25 years of credentialing and medical staff services experience.  She has worked in multiple environments throughout her career, including acute care hospitals, CVOs, and managed care organizations, providing her with unique and diverse insight into all facets of the medical staff services and credentialing profession. 

In her current role, she advises clients and presents various educational and training programs in the areas of accreditation, credentialing, CVO development and certification, enrollment and delegation.  Amy has authored numerous industry articles as well as the HCPro book "Credentialing for Managed Care: Compliant Processes for Health Plans and Delegated Entities".

Amy is dual certified by NAMSS and previously served as Chair of its MCO Task Force and Education Committee.  She supports NAMSS Education through curriculum development and as an instructor for its CPMSM and CPCS certification preparation courses.

Rachelle L Silva, BS, CPMSM, CPCS

Rachelle Silva is a dual certified MSP with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.  She has worked in the medical services profession for 20 years with experience in both hospital and managed care credentialing.  She currently works as an auditor in the delegated credentialing department for an NCQA accredited National PPO Network.  She has served 8 years as a leader for the Louisiana State Association, 12 years as a volunteer, member and leader of the Certification Commission of NAMSS, and 3 years as a Director At Large on the NAMSS Board.  She is currently serving NAMSS as an instructor and is a partner with the Southern Belles and Beau speaker bureau providing professional development and healthcare industry education across the credentialing continuum.

Constance E Riedel, BS, CPMSM, CPCS, FMSP

Connie is currently a NAMSS Faculty member and provides professional consulting services.  She most recently was Regional Director for the Centralized Credentialing and Medical Staff Services Departments at Mercy Health in Toledo, Ohio.

Connie's career has spanned over 27 years serving in management positions and as a consultant in the areas of medical staff credentialing, privileging, continuing medical education, medical staff management and regulatory compliance. She holds a BS degree, magna cum laude, in business management from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire.  Among her various honors, Connie received the "Excellence in Medical Staff Services Award" by her state peers in 2011.  She was among the first to receive her Fellow designation as a Medical Services Professional from NAMSS. 

Connie has served NAMSS in many state and national leadership roles, including the role of NAMSS President in 2012.

Karen L Reed, Ph.D., CPMSM

Karen Reed, Ph.D., CPMSM is the Administrative Director of Medical Affairs at Texas Health Harris Hospital Fort Worth “THFW”, in Fort Worth, Texas. THFW is one of the flagship hospitals of Texas Health Resources.

Dr. Reed received her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Weber State University in 2000 and her PhD in the same from Kennedy Western University in 2002. Dr. Reed was awarded her CPMSM certification in 1982. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, TSMSS, and NAMSS.

Dr. Reed has been a member of TSMSS since 1993 and served five years on the Board of Directors.  In 2007, Dr. Reed was elected to the NAMSS Executive Board and served the organization in the following positions: treasurer, president-elect, president, and past-president. Dr. Reed currently serves as an educator for NAMSS.

Janet L Wilson, CPMSM, CPCS

Janet Wilson has been involved in the medical staff services, quality and credentialing industry for the past 30 years.  Her healthcare experience extends to hospitals, quality, managed care and the CVO environment.    Janet is currently the Central Texas Division Director of Medical Staff Affairs and CVO of Baylor Scott & White Health.

Janet holds a Bachelors of Science in Health Administration and is CPMSM and CPCS certified by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).   Janet has achieved several professional leadership positions in her career.    She served for three years on the board of directors of NAMSS.   Janet also served on the board of directors of the Texas Society of Medical Staff Services (TSMSS) and served as President of TSMSS during her tenure on the board

Janet has also been an independent educator and consultant in the areas of credentialing, CVO, Quality, Managed Care and Medical Staff Services for over 14 years with a primary focus on medical staff bylaws development and revisions to meet regulatory/accreditation standards, privilege form development, medical staff leadership education programs, development and standardization of policies and procedures/forms/documents across multiple hospital, CVO, and Managed Care settings.   

Janet has been teaching onsite and teleconference CPMSM/CPCS certification study groups and professional development courses for over 14 years.   In 2012, Janet became a member of the faculty of Edge-U-Cate, LLC. and teaches certification study programs and participates in their Credentialing School.   Janet is also an instructor for NAMSS.

Maggie Palmer, MSA, CPMSM, CPCS

Maggie is the Vice President of Medical Professional Affairs at Parkland Health & Hospital System. She CPCS & CPMSM certified & a former Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.  She has over 22 years of expertise in medical staff management & operations, credentialing & privileging, provider enrollment, regulatory & bylaws compliance, database management, quality, process improvement & personnel management. She is also on NAMSS Faculty & speaks at numerous national, state and local conferences.  Maggie has been published numerous times and is an advocate for the profession thru mentoring & volunteering.  Maggie is the Past President of the California Association Medical Staff Services and past board member of Hawaii Association Medical Staff Professionals and is currently on the Texas Society for Medical Service Specialist conference planning committee.

John R Pastrano, BBA, CPCS, CPMSM

John Pastrano, BBA, CPMSM, CPCS, is the National Director – Centralized Verification Organization for Tenet Healthcare located in Dallas, Texas with oversight credentialing responsibilities for pre-applications and applications with hospitals within the Texas and Arizona Regions. He previously was the Administrative Director of Medical Staff for 2 Dallas area hospitals with responsibilities including oversight of medical staff affairs, processing pre-applications, initial and reappointment applications and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).  

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston. John’s 25 years of credentialing experience has been in both the hospital and managed care settings. John has also served as an Intermittent Consultant for Joint Commission Resources.

John was the first elected male President for NAMSS in 2014 and served as a NAMSS Alternate Representative to The Joint Commission's Professional and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) and a NAMSS Instructor.

Faith Rhoades, MMHC, CPMSM, CPCS, FMSP

Faith is the Director of Medical Staff Services at Huntsville Hospital, the sixth largest publicly owned hospital in the nation. She holds a degree in Healthcare Administration, and Masters in Management of Healthcare from Vanderbilt University.  Her more than 35 years’ experience in the fields of Medical Staff Management and Leadership Development includes service as President of the Alabama Association, member of NAMSS Bylaws, Industry and Government Relations, and Membership Committees, Board Director at Large, and NAMSS Instructor. During her service with NAMSS, she was co-researcher/writer for "The Big Three: A Side by Side Matrix Comparing Hospital Accrediting Agencies”, researcher for international healthcare credentialing, and team member for the NAMSS leadership development.  She is a speaker at national and state conferences on topics related to medical staff compliance, fair hearings, leadership & professional development. For fun, Faith studies & teaches piano performance.
