In today’s complex healthcare environment, healthcare organizations must make sure that every healthcare professional is fully qualified to deliver a high level of quality healthcare. Credentialing professionals play a critical role in credentialing and privileging a myriad of healthcare practitioners including physicians, dentists, podiatrists, psychologists, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.
A revamp of the former popular program by the same name, this course will present the foundational elements of credentialing combined with information on the accreditation standards, as well as how and when to apply them. This course is a must-attend for anyone new to the field and is an excellent refresher for current MSPs who want to enhance their knowledge of credentialing.
What You Will Learn:
- The role of credentialing and privileging in the acute care environment, to explain why these functions are necessary, and to identify the legal, regulatory (CMS), and accreditation (TJC) requirements;
- In-depth specific processes such as initial appointment, clinical privileging, reappointment, reappraisal, and/or renewal of privileges, performance monitoring (OPPE and FPPE); and
- How to address credentialing challenges, such as temporary privileges, telemedicine practitioners, and allied health professionals.
Who Should Attend:
MSPs who are new to the field or are looking for a refresher course covering the fundamentals and best practices of credentialing. NAMSS members and non-members are welcome.
This in-person course is approved for 14.0 CE credits.
