Leadership Award 

The Leadership Award recognizes a physician or healthcare executive who has demonstrated sustained and meaningful support for NAMSS and for the mission, activities, and professional role of Medical Services Professionals. Only current NAMSS members may submit nominations for this award.

Recipients are not required to be NAMSS members but should have demonstrated notable support of NAMSS and advocacy for the medical services profession through leadership, collaboration, education, or organizational influence. Current members of the NAMSS Board of Directors are not eligible to submit nominations for this award.

NOMINATIONS FOR 2026 ARE DUE BY MAY 20.

NOMINATION FORM

Eligibility:

  • Nominees must be physicians or healthcare administrators who are serving or who have served in leadership positions on a hospital staff or a healthcare organization. Physician nominees are defined as Chair of a medical staff committee, a clinical service or department, a medical director, president, or other officer.
  • The healthcare administrator is defined as executive director of a healthcare organization, president or chief executive officer, supervisor or director with administrative responsibility for the medical services professional.

Criteria for Nomination:

  • Demonstrated support for the activities and role of the medical services professional.
  • Encouragement and enthusiasm for the work of the National Association Medical Staff Services.
  • Commitment to the organizational goals of the healthcare organization and/or the medical /provider staff.
  • Qualities of leadership and statesmanship exhibited for the benefit of the healthcare organization and Medical Services Profession.

Certification Impact Award

The Certification Impact Award (formerly the Golden Key Award) is awarded to acknowledge an individual for their efforts to promote certification. It is the highest honor awarded by the Certification Commission of NAMSS (CCN). The Certification Impact Award is further intended to acknowledge nominees who exemplify the NAMSS Certificants’ Code of Ethics through their dedication to certification. A nominee shall demonstrate this dedication by sharing knowledge, fostering education, and encouraging personal/professional growth in the medical services profession that inspires individuals to certification.

NOMINATION FORM

Eligibility:

  • Nominee MUST hold an active CPMSM®, CPCS®, and/or CPES credential in good standing.
  • Nominee WILL be judged upon the information provided on the official nomination form and narrative prepared by the nominator(s).
  • Nominee MUST be nominated by professional colleagues who can attest to the nominee’s dedication to certification.
  • NAMSS membership is NOT required for either the nominee or the nominator(s).
  • Current members of the CCN, NAMSS Board of Directors, and NAMSS instructors are NOT eligible for nomination during their term of service or for three years after they complete their service in one of these roles.

ICON Award 

The ICON (Inspirational Commitment to the Organization NAMSS) Award recognizes an individual or group who has demonstrated exceptional success in increasing awareness of NAMSS and in elevating the visibility, value, and reputation of the medical services profession through demonstrated measurable impact through advocacy, leadership, education, innovation, outreach, or other initiatives that advance NAMSS and promote the medical services profession at the local, state, or national level.

Individual recipients are required to be current NAMSS members; group recipients are not required to be NAMSS members but must be Affiliate Members. Current members of the NAMSS Board of Directors are not eligible to submit nominations for this award and the award may be presented annually, at the discretion of NAMSS.

  • Nominees may be individuals or groups, members of NAMSS or key stakeholders.
  • Nominees MUST have working knowledge of the value and scope of services provided by medical services professionals as well as the strategic goals of NAMSS.
  • Nominees MUST have a proven track record in heightening awareness of NAMSS and elevating the esteem of the medical services professional.

Criteria for Nomination:

  • Continuous encouragement and enthusiasm for the work of the National Association Medical Staff Services.
  • Commitment to the organizational goals, mission and vision of the National Association Medical Staff Services.
  • Demonstrated success in heightening awareness of NAMSS to members, employers, key stakeholders and/or the public.
  • Demonstrated success in promoting the value of the Medical Services Professional's role to the healthcare community.
  • Demonstrated success in elevating the esteem of the Medical Services Profession.
  • Qualities of leadership and statesmanship exhibited for the benefit of the organization and the profession.

Joan Covell-Carpenter Award 

The Joan Covell-Carpenter Award (in honor of Joan Covell-Carpenter who was one of the founders of NAMSS) is presented annually for an article written by a member and published in Gateway.
