NAMSS Scholarships

Please see below for new and expanded NAMSS scholarship opportunities for 2026, reflecting a continued commitment to supporting MSPs at every stage of their career. The application window for 2026 scholarships is planned to open in February 2026. We encourage you to explore more information about NAMSS scholarships below and to check back soon for application information once the window officially opens.

NAMSS Empowering Tomorrow’s MSP® Scholarship

As part of NAMSS' commitment to enhancing the professional development of and recognition for all professionals in the medical staff, provider enrollment, and credentialing profession, the NAMSS Empowering Tomorrow’s MSP® Scholarship is designed to support MSPs and Provider Enrollment professionals with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This scholarship offers financial support for certification preparation, continuing education (i.e., Credentialing 101, Credentialing 201, Provider Enrollment Curriculum, CPCS® Preparation Course, CPMSM® Preparation Course, CPES Preparation Course, or Leadership Certificate Program), or Annual Conference registration, based upon the applicant’s preference. In addition, the scholarship winners will be appointed a NAMSS mentor to help grow their career and/or NAMSS volunteer leadership opportunities. Up to four applicants will be chosen annually.

Application Requirements:

  • The application must include a personal statement describing:
    • in 300 – 500 words, briefly explain what diversity, equity, and inclusion mean to you and how you practice a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession and in your own community.
    • in 300 – 500 words, briefly explain your career goals and how you plan to use this scholarship to achieve them.
  • A current CV/resume (not to exceed three pages)
  • A letter of support from the applicant’s supervisor

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

  • The applicant must be an MSP or Provider Enrollment professional who has been employed in the field for at least 12 months.
  • The applicant must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession and in their community.
  • If applying for a CPCS Preparation Course, the applicant must be employed in the medical services profession for at least 12 consecutive months in the last 24 months and must have a total of three years of experience in the medical services profession within the past five years.
  • If applying for a CPMSM Preparation Course, the applicant must be employed in the medical services profession for at least 12 consecutive months in the last 24 months and must have a total of five years of experience in the medical services profession within the past eight years.
  • If applying for a CPES Preparation Course, the applicant must have been or currently be employed or contracted in the profession of provider enrollment for at least 12 consecutive months in the last 24 months and must have a total of three years’ experience within the past five years.

NAMSS Annual Conference Scholarship - (15) scholarships offered

The NAMSS Annual Conference Scholarship provides financial assistance to an active member of NAMSS who is currently employed in the medical services profession or holds the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and is currently seeking employment in the same.

Scholarship recipients may select one of the following packages if joining the conference in-person:

  1. Complimentary registration + (3) nights hotel stay*
  2. Complimentary registration + $750 travel stipend**

*Hotel reservation to be reserved through NAMSS in a NAMSS hotel block. Individuals may stay for additional nights at their own expense, but location at a specific hotel is not guaranteed.

**Travel stipend may be used toward any travel or per diem expenses. All stipends will be paid via check once the Conference has concluded and in-person attendance has been confirmed.

If attending the conference virtually, the scholarship will be granted to cover the cost of virtual registration only.

    • In 300 – 500 words, briefly explain your educational goals and objectives and how this scholarship can help you attain those goals.
  • A current CV/resume

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants MUST be NAMSS members.
  • Applicants MUST be currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider credentialing services or hold the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and currently seeking employment in same.
  • Scholarship recipients will be asked to provide at least one hour of volunteer time at Conference and to share their experience in NAMSS Gateway following Conference.
  • NAMSS Board members, Education Committee, Courses Subcommittee, Products & Resources Subcommittee members, and instructors are ineligible for this scholarship.

Charlotte Cochrane Scholarship Award - (1) scholarship offered

The Charlotte Cochrane Scholarship Award was established in 1988, in honor of Charlotte Cochrane, founder and past president of NAMSS and former Overview editor. This award provides financial assistance for an individual seeking a higher education degree, in an amount not to exceed $1,500, to a current active member of NAMSS currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider enrollment or holds the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and is currently seeking employment in the same. Applicant must also be currently enrolled in an accredited program of study.

Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit a completed application including:

  • Proof of enrollment
  • A degree plan/schedule of classes/transcripts if applicable
  • Descriptive materials relating to the current accredited program
  • A personal statement:
    • In 300 – 500 words, briefly explain your educational goals and objectives (including a time-table) and how this field of study will/can be applied to profession.
  • A current CV/resume

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants MUST be NAMSS members.
  • Applicants MUST be currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider credentialing services or hold the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and currently seeking employment in same.
  • NAMSS Board members, Education Committee, Courses Subcommittee, Products & Resources Subcommittee members, and instructors are ineligible for this scholarship.
  • Applicant MUST also be enrolled in an accredited program of study.

NAMSS Continuing Education Scholarship - (6) scholarships offered

This scholarship provides financial assistance, to a current active member of NAMSS who is currently employed in the medical services profession or holds the NAMSS CPCS, CPES, or CPMSM and is currently seeking employment in same. The scholarship will cover one of the following:

  • Registration fees for a NAMSS Certification Preparation Course (live-virtual or on-demand) and provide complimentary access to the associated certification study guide.

OR

  • Registration fees for the required preparation modules and the live portion of the Leadership Certificate Program. Individuals receiving this scholarship for the Leadership Certificate Program are responsible for covering their own travel to and from the live course.  

OR

  • Registration fees for NAMSS Credentialing 101 or Credentialing 201 (live-virtual only).

Please note, being a recipient of this scholarship does not guarantee approval to take the examination, nor does it guarantee passing of the examination. Recipients must register for associated courses within the calendar year the scholarship is awarded.

  • A personal statement:
    • In 300 – 500 words, briefly explain your educational goals and objectives and how this scholarship can help you attain those goals.
  • A current CV/resume

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants MUST be NAMSS members.
  • Applicants MUST be currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider credentialing services or hold the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and currently seeking employment in same.
  • NAMSS Board members, Education Committee, Courses Subcommittee, Products & Resources Subcommittee members, and instructors are ineligible for this scholarship.

NAMSS Certification Examination Scholarship - (6) scholarships offered

This scholarship provides financial assistance to a current active member of NAMSS who is currently employed in the medical services profession or holds the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and is currently seeking employment in same. The scholarship will cover one-time examination fees for a NAMSS Certification Examination.

Please note, being a recipient of this scholarship does not guarantee approval to take the examination, nor does it guarantee passing of the examination. This scholarship covers the cost of initial examination fee only, and is a one-time opportunity. Should you be denied to take the examination or not pass on your initial attempt, you must apply for a future scholarship or fund any additional attempts. Recipients must apply for the certification examination within the calendar year the scholarship is awarded.

Application Requirements:

  • Description of personal investment in education over the last twelve months including educational opportunities attended.
  • A personal statement:
    • In 300 – 500 words, briefly explain your certification goals, objectives, a time-table, and how this scholarship can help you attain those goals.
  • A current CV/resume

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants MUST be NAMSS members.
  • Applicants MUST be currently employed in the profession of medical staff or provider credentialing services or hold the NAMSS CPCS®, CPES, or CPMSM® and currently seeking employment in same.
  • NAMSS Board members, Education Committee, Courses Subcommittee, Products & Resources Subcommittee members, and instructors are ineligible for this scholarship.
