Dr. Norcross presents two relatively new UC San Diego programs: the HEAR program which were founded to educate physicians and de-stigmatize burnout and depression, to teach physicians how to recognize and ameliorate burnout; and the Caregiver Support Team, which identifies struggling or suffering colleagues in the healthcare setting, providing assistance quickly and confidentially, and in cases beyond the scope of the “peer supporter,” assisting the colleague to receive appropriate and prompt professional evaluation and treatment.
